A. Normally Skinner Tank Company subcontracts shop built tanks through one of it's many venders throughout
the USA.
Q. Does Skinner Tank Company build foundations ?
A. On occasion, however it is normally more economical to have a local contractor build the foundation. General
foundation specs can be provided upon request.
Q. What type of foundation is best for my tank ?
A. That depends on your local soil conditions. A concrete ring wall is the best type but not always necessary.
More economical foundations such as grade band types could also be considered.
Q. Does Skinner Tank Company paint tanks ?
A. No, painting can be done locally more economically.
Q. How long should I wait to paint my tank after it is built ?
A. With proper sand blasting, you can paint your tank as soon as you would like.
Q. What types of testing does Skinner Tank Company do to the tank ?
A. Vacuum testing of the floor seams, liquid penetrant testing of the shell seams, and pressure testing of the shell
manways and nozzles.
Q. After the tank is built, what types of additional testing should be done ?
A. API 650 recommends both hydrostatic (water) and radiographic (x-ray) examinations. Skinner Tank Co. can
arrange x-ray testing if necessary.
Q. Does Skinner Tank Company provide a warranty ?
A. Yes, the tank warranty is for 12 months after construction is complete. However, if the tank is not water tested,
Skinner Tank Co. will not be responsible for lost product, transfer of product, or tank cleaning related to warranty
work.
